Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to begin their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise started the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, striking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.

Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the companion and best friend, wants vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous place.
  • The strong character and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the team reach locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the family.

This means them few options but to head to Timmony in quest for Casimir.

What’s Next?

According to episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Seekers and Planners groups.

Audiences can expect learning which players will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
